The last race of the year the Zemo's
ventured down to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway's Commonwealth
Cup. The trip may have been long but the overall time spent
was a cut above the rest. For many guys the pit area alone would
be considered eye candy so I think I can speak for our crew
and say they enjoyed themselves although the dust/dirt off the
oval outdid any track here in the QCA. We had our fall backs
so did not make it to the final cut, but I must say if there
would have been no bad luck Michael may have had a respectable
night. I wouldn't recommend a round-trip in 24-hours and next
time would make a weekend vacation out of it. I had to use toothpicks
to keep my eyes open in case one of our drivers decided to close
his eyes.

Beautiful autumn weather blessed southeast
Iowa on Saturday and the result was a record setting evening
for the eighth running of "Shiverfest" at the Lee County Speedway.
Over 210 cars in five divisions were in competition, a new record
car count, in front of the largest crowd ever to come out for
the season-ending event. The Modified feature was a thriller
as Mark Schulte paced the field for the first seventeen laps
before Tony Fraise was able to use the middle line to ease past
with two laps to go. Schulte made one more bid, but could not
return to the front as Fraise earned his second Shiverfest title.
Brandon Banks ran strong in third with Bruce Hanford and David
Holder completing the top five.

Nearly 90 cars parked in the pits
Sunday night for the 14th Annual Reinhart Memorial at the Quad
City Raceway. Traditionally a Hawkeye Raceway event, Stuart
Motorsports took it over this season. The main event for the
evening was a 50 lap $2,000 to win A-Modified feature. The 50
lap main event lived up to all the hype. For the first 25 laps
Kevin Blum, in his brothers #21, Thad Wilson, and USMTS regular
Al Henja mixed it up for the lead running three wide several
times. Each of them had their chance at the lead at different
times. Wilson eventually took control of the lead when Henja
pulled into the pits and Blum stopped in turn four ending his
night. Wilson lead the rest of the way holding off charges from
Jim Sandusky, John Bull, and Marty Thompson and take home the
$2,000 payday.
Mach 1 racecars did not fare so well
for the Reinhart. During a restart later in the race Michael
would come into turn 4 and break leaving him at a snails pace
as others are ready to go. To my dismay Doug Crampton would
connect with Michael's rearend at the flagstand and tumble him
over with the rubber side up. Fortunately, Doug climbed out
of the car with his health in tact.

The 4th Annual Fall Spooktacular was
held Saturday at the Davenport Speedway. Over one hundred and
forty racecars graced the pit area of the track for the event.
Mike Zemo Jr. also captured his second Spooktacular win in the
V-8 Modified class. Bob 'the Dominator' Dominacki held the early
lead after starting on the pole. Zemo was able to get by Dominacki
and held off Dan Chapman down the stretch to capture the win.
Dominacki held on for third, finishing ahead of John Bull.
V-8 Modified class was the second
Spooktacular win for Michael out of three season runs. He claimed
his first win in 2005 and again in 2007. Go Michael!

The A-Modifieds were ready to run
again and several drivers that pre-entered were eligible for
a $500 bonus if they had the highest point average after both
nights of racing. Once the green waved Thad Wilson grabbed the
lead with John Bull second and Jim Sandusky and Ryan Gustin
battling for third. After a yellow Bull challenged Wilson on
the bottom for lead with Sandusky and Gustin right on their
bumpers. Gustin make a move on the very top of track that impressed
many and passed them all for the lead. Gustin would check out
and take home the win again and the $500 bonus. Bull would take
second followed by Marty Thompson, Kevin Blum, and Donovan Lodge
who from the 13th.

The A-Modified feature may have been
the race of the night. Kevin Blum and Ryan Gustin would start
side by side on the front and for every lap of the feature they
would battle it out. Gustin wouldnt let Blum get to far staying
right on his bumper lap after lap. Gustin would follow Blum
to the top side in turns one and two and then shoot to the bottom
in turns three and four to try to get by Blum. Then would two
laps to go Gustin finally made the move pass Blum coming out
of turn four to take the lead. Gustin would hold off Blum to
take the victory. Mike Zemo would take third followed by Donovan
Lodge and Brandon Durbin.
Michael finished 3rd in his heat and
began in the fourth row outside for the feature. Excellent moves
as he jetted to 6th, then 4th, and eventually 3rd battling quite
a few on his way up such as Sandusky, Lodge, Bull, and Hanna.
As Michael and Donovan continually battled for 3rd imitating
the front runners Brandon Durbin stubbornly battled to run right
on their tails. Coming out of turn 4 it sometimes was a toss
up who would take the lead. A great night of racing!

QCR $600 Night
Oops, a little spin in the heat race
left us with an 18th start in the feature. Michael was chomping
at the bit to run up top with competition Jim Sandusky. No complaining
from the family tonight as Michael went from his starting position
to a hard charging 5th place finish.
No breaks tonight... hallelujah!

JCS $1000 Night
Hmmm...Michael was awesome in the
heat race and took the win. Prepared to run a tough race I was
disappointed to start the race and find out we had no rear brake.
To make things worse the coil wire came loose and the Z was
off the track.

DS $1000 Night
Thankfully we chose to skip Deer Creek
and stay in the QC. Michael's heat race was awesome and we were
prepared to have a good run for the feature since Michael was
starting 5th. Not...the caliper broke as he lined up, and although
he made a valiant effort, the bird cage was off and he was in
(I believe the term was a popcorn popper) and eventually drove
off the track.

JCS Night of Destruction Trailer Races.
The night was great and the car was
in tune with the track. Races were tough as Michael kept up
the pace with winged warriors Dominacki and Willert. The feature
brought us a 3rd and it was so much fun we may just have to
go with a wing next year.

Jeff Morris took the checkered with Brandon Durbin placing 2nd.

Happy Birthday Michael! and
congrats on your Heat win.
Kevin Blum with some new colors
on the 1 was a man on a mission. Right away from his front row
inside starting spot Blum checked out. Doug Crampton in the
40 was very fast too. He held off an early challenge from Jeff
Morris in the 86 but after that no else challenged Crampton
and he would run away with second. Thad Wilson in the 75, who
started last, made his way to front rather quickly but couldnt
run down Crampton or Blum. Mike Zemo Jr. in the Z made let run
at Wilson but couldnt make the pass. Blum would go on untouched
for the win followed by Crampton, Wilson, Zemo Jr., and Morris.

Illowa Challenge Goes to Zemo
It was now the main event,
the TMS A-Modified feature race. Doug Crampton in the 40 and
Milo Veloz Jr. in the 43 drew one and two and right away began
fighting for first with Crampton running up high and Veloz running
low. Donovan Lodge in the 32 and the Z of Mike Zemo Jr. began
their march to the front too. A few yellows came out and those
were the opportunities Lodge and Zemo were looking for. Lap
after lap Zemo was challenging Lodge for second while Lodge
was challenging Veloz for first. Lodge finally got a run on
Veloz going into turns 1 & 2 but they made contact and Zemo
saw in opening coming out of 2 and he shot through it and took
the lead. Zemo didnt look back from there and pulled away from
Lodge and Veloz. Lodge and Veloz continued racing hard for second
lap after lap until the checkered came out. Lodge would take
second followed by Veloz, Brett Diercks in the 4D, and Bob Helm
in the 1X rounded out the top 5.

Eewww. My computer crashed
and nothing could be saved. Needless to say, I lost everything
and didn't follow computer advise to back up my files. Thankfully,
Jessica had a computer she wasn't using so I'm back and running.
It certainly is easier to copy
and paste any nights event, but of course over two weeks have
passed so tonight's run will have to be written by me. I had
to go back to the tape to see what even occurred tonight and
was a little disappointed it had to be this race I write about.
So to make things brief, Michael
looked very well in the feature and was moving up when he passed
an unexpectedly frustrated driver. It's difficult to say things
negative, so I'm just going to not say anything at all and just
comment that Michael behaved himself in a way I was proud of.
He would be sent to the back of the pack and through a little
of wanting to get back up to the front and his own unsolicited
frustration did a valiant job of letting it go and moving forward.
From the back to about an 8th place finish was just fine with
me. Mikey, you make me proud.
After the races I scooted off
Great America for an excellent weekend with my favorite girls!

The A-Modifieds took to the
track for feature race. When the green flag waved Jim Sandusky
filling in for Mike Zemo Jr. in the Z car took the early lead.
Thad Wilson in the 75W who has been very fast all year started
outside front row with Sandusky
and before long he was pass Sandusky and pulling away from the
field. Early on the 50 of Bob Stogdell was having an excellent
run. Back in the pack the 1 of Kevin Blum and the 32 of Donovan
Lodge started their march to the front. After a few yellow flags
Blum found himself right on Sandusky for second. Lap after lap
Sandusky and Blum were right on each other. Wilson would go
on unchallenged for the win and with Blum and Sandusky coming
across the line side by side with second going to Blum, Sandusky
third, Todd Bates in the 49 had a great run coming home fourth,
and Lodge would take fifth.

It was another hard-hitting
night of action in the V-8 Modified class. The caution flag
flew four times before the second lap of the feature was scored.
When the dust has settled, Thad Wilson had collected his fourth
points win of the season at Davenport.
Marty Diercks held the lead
through those first four yellows, but the fourth restart saw
John Bull jump into the lead. Lap six saw Wilson get by Bull
and drive away from the field. Wilson would take the checkers
a full half lap ahead of the field. Bob Dominacki and Jim Sandusky
both passed Bull on the final lap when his motor expired. Bull
held on for fourth, just ahead of Mat Stein.

It's a first that Mom was out
of town for our race at Aledo. My understanding is Michael won
his heat race and pulled off a 3rd place finish in the feature,
behind Donovan Lodge and John Bull.
Dad, son, and Mach 1 have the
car performing to their expectations.

The A-Modifieds feature B.
Durbin was the man to beat. Challenged lap after lap by Kevin
Blum, Mike Zemo Jr., and Marty Thompson. B. Durbin held the
high side and finished side by side at the line with Blum to
win his first ever feature. Zemo took third followed by Thompson
and Todd Bates who came from 11th.
Happy for the Durbin's, Brandon
and his crew's efforts paid off on a well deserved win.

The 'Z' car of Mike Zemo Jr.
scored a hard fought win in the V-8 Modified feature. Andy Cook
took the early lead of the race from his pole starting position.
Cook held the lead through the first four laps and the first
four cautions. Milo Veloz Jr. would take the lead on lap five,
but with a tire going down, Veloz made contact with Cook bringing
out the yellow again and sending both to the pits. Zemo would
inherit the lead on the restart and separate himself from the
pack. John Bull would slowly reel in Zemo, but at the checkers
would have to settle for second. Troy Emerick would have a solid
run to finish third, while Kevin Blum went to the front, to
the back, and up to finish fourth. Doug Crampton came from 15th
to take fifth. Modified heats went to Thad Wilson, Chuck Hanna,
and Jason Pershy.

Jeff Morris drew the pole so
everyone knew he was the man to beat. When the green came out
J. Morris took the lead with Brandon Durbin on his bumper. Early
on Mike Zemo Jr. was moving through the field very fast. Thad
Wilson went to the back after getting a flat tire but before
long he was right back towards the front. Donovan Lodge was
moving quickly through the pack too. After several cautions
J. Morris proved to be too strong and he would take home the
win with B. Durbin second and Wilson who came from 20th to finish
3rd. Jordan Schram in the 92S, who also played the National

The A-Modifieds ran their feature
and both Kevin Blum and Milo Veloz Jr. took the challenge. At
the start of the race it was dιjΰ vu all over again with Doug
Crampton in the 40 and Jeff Morris in the 86 racing side by
side. Eventually J. Morris got by Crampton and started pulling
away. At the beginning of the feature Veloz and Blum looked
like they might have a chance at getting to the front but as
the feature went on Velozs car slowed and Blums car seemed
to get faster. Mike Zemo Jr. in the Z and Jason Pershy in the
17 were also running very well. If Blum could have caught one
more yellow he might have had something for J. Morris but he
didnt get one and J. Morris cruised on to the win with Crampton
taking second and Blum coming home third.

TMS A-Modifieds hit the track
with 3 heat races. In the first heat race, Rock Islands Doug
Crampton picked up a heat race win, Rookie A-Modified driver
Mitchell Morris would come home second. In the second heat The
Red Rocket Jeff Morris would pilot his familiar stealth 86
car into victory lane with John Bull coming in second. Finally
the third heat race was captured by Thad Wilson, winner of the
first race at Aledo this year in April, second was Mike Zemo
Jr.
A-Modified feature event. Jeff
Morris jumped out to an early lead with Thad Wilson closely
behind him. The first 7 laps were slowed by many cautions, caused
by cars spinning out. Then 6 green flag laps were completed
and, uh-oh the power went out in turn 1 and 2, and the lights
went out. After a 15 minute break to get the lights back up,
we were ready to go back racing again. Jeff Morris would lead
the last 12 laps holding off Wilson first, then a fast closing
John Bull on the top side. J. Morris would collect the $1,000
paycheck for the race, Bull crossed the line second, Wilson
was third, Crampton, who came from the back, twice, was fourth,
and Mitchell Morris rounded out your top 5.
Heat race between Michael and
Thad was great. Thad's car has been excellent all year so for
Micahel to keep the lead until the last lap was telling me the
Mach 1 and Michael were on the same page. In the beginning of
the feature Michael's right front got caught up in a little
activitiy in turn 3. The spring would pop out and we were off
the track.

The A-Modifieds hit the track
next running for $500 to win and $50 to start. Once they lined
up for the feature you knew the winner was probably coming from
the front. Kevin Blum in the 1 was sitting on the pole with
Jeff Morris in the 86 outside of him. Right away Blum and J.
Morris started pulling away from the field. While those raced
away, Thad Wilson the 75 was flying through field. Donovan Lodge
in the 32 was moving through the pack as well after spinning
and going to the rear. Up at the front of the race Blum started
pulling away from J. Morris but when lapped traffic got involved
J. Morris was able to close down Blums lead. Blum was held
him off and took home the win. J. Morris finished second with
Thad Wilson coming in third. Donovan Lodge went from 15th to
6th.
I got to add my boys! Michael
and Thad put on an excellent show through most of the feature
and did a great job of running close, neither making much contact,
which made racing very interesting and the front stretch wall
a little too close for me. The 5th place position of Brandon
Durbin should be mentioned too.. Brandon continues to do well
this year and I look forward to his next win as much as I do
Michael's.

The V-8 Modified feature was
caution-filled with several serious crashes. Fortunately, no
serious injuries. Rick Ratliff jumped to the early lead and
held the top spot until lap five. Bob Dominacki, in the #5d,
started in the fifth row, and took the lead on lap five. Dominacki
held the lead until his right front tire started to go flat.
Thad Wilson took the lead on lap 14 and never looked back. The
victory was Wilson's third point win and fourth total at Davenport
this season. Second at the stripe was Kevin Blum, followed by
Milo Veloz Jr., Ratliff, and Mike Zemo Jr. Veloz was disqualified
at the scales for being too light. Blum, Doug Crampton, and
John Bull were heat winners.
Ooh, first lap of the feature
and things were not looking good. Fortunately, Michael would
not participate in any of the pain but many of our fellow drivers
had damage. Michael began the feature around 14th and would
move to 10th after the first caution and strike as close as
4th before finishing the race in 5th place. Chuck Hanna was
a very lucky boy as he was spun out in the front of the pack
and ended running in the wrong direction into oncoming drivers.
Generally, you have to give these guys credit, they keep focused
on what is going on in front of them and manage to avoid some
pretty ugly stuff.

A-Modified
feature was a good race with Doug Crampton and Jeff Morris starting
on the front row. When the green flag waved Crampton and Morris
immediately went at it. Crampton was running high and Morris
was running low lap after lap. Milo Veloz Jr. tried to get in
a few times but before he knew it Kevin Blum had made his way
up from his 7th starting position to challenge Veloz for third.
Blum would get around Veloz and run down Crampton and Morris.
While Morris and Blum were fighting for second Crampton started
building his lead and took home the victory. Morris would hold
off Blum for second.
Michael placed 8th in the feature.

The make-up feature for the
V-8 Modified class went much the same way. Pole sitter Marty
Diercks took an early lead, before losing it to Matt Stein.
Stein would then lose the lead to Modified points leader Thad
Wilson. Wilson went on for the win with Stein second. Doug Crampton
would finish third, Troy Emerick fourth and Mike Zemo Jr fifth.

time getting their race started. There were six cautions before
the race was called complete due to time constraints. Matt Stein,
who started on the pole and held the advantage throughout the
cautions, was credited with the win. Jim Willert was second
with Bob Dominacki third, Kevin Blum fourth, and Brian Bushong

Drivers got to draw tonight
for the feature, but alas, Michael would pull a 10. Throughout
the race as he continued to move forward we would be tight and
it was pretty obvious the car was pushing. As he came out of
turn 4 we would go 4 wide and Michael's
right front was hit and the car was into Morris, as I saw it
on replay. As the race continued Milo would suffer a flat tire
as he lead the race and moved up to the cushion where Michael
would have contact with him and a caution was called. The rest
of the race did not improve as we fell back. However, as Milo
does quite often, he flew back to the front and put on quite
a race. Donovan Lodge would take the checkered flag. Good Job,
Donovan.
I believe Michael finished
seventh...I like it so much better when I get the results off
QCR and Drttrak because where he places isn't really on the
top of my priority list.

Jason Pershy had the
early lead with Milo Veloz Jr. coming strong through the field.
Eventually Veloz took the lead with great racing through the
pack. . Veloz had built a good size lead with Crampton in second
and Morris and Blum battling for third. Towards the end of race
Crampton began gaining on Veloz but it was too little too late.
Veloz made it two in a row with Crampton second and Morris third.

Years ago I had a driver tell
me that he hit everything on the track but the pace car. Maybe
a little exaggerated, but at the time I thought it was rather
cute. However, tonight's race seemed to reflect that same statement
and I realized I felt exactly the same way. Michael was caught
up in numerous cautions throughout the feature race and I won't
say they were all his fault...except for maybe one, but I seriously
thought it was one of our our worse nights in regards to cautions.
The funny thing was the track looked excellent and it seemed
you could run anywhere your little heart desired. Others should
agree because the normal 20 laps could not be completed and
the checkered yellow flags waved a little over half way through
the race.
In a caution-shortened race,
it was Kevin Blum taking home his second Davenport win of the
season. Blum started the race in the sixth position and had
to hold off a charging Thad Wilson to take the win. Wilson would
come home second with John Bull, Bob Dominacki, and Milo Veloz
Jr., rounding out the top five. Blum, Wilson, and Veloz each
won a modified heat race.

Milo Veloz Jr. jumped out to
a good size lead from his outside front row starting point.
Doug Crampton, Jason Pershy , and Kevin Blum ran three wide
for the second spot while Jeff Morris made his way from the
back. Morris eventually challenged Crampton for second as they
gained on Veloz; however, Veloz was able to hold them both off
and take the win. Morris came home second followed by Crampton.
So few open wheels tonight
it was sad Michael would again run into difficulties and end
up on the hook. All damage was repaired from Friday, but it
appeared a new/old gear may have been the culprit to the end
of tonight's run. Congrats Milo, I was told you would take the
win!

Jim Willert proved that being
up front is everything in the V-8 Modified feature. Willert
started on the pole position for the race and led the entire
distance, for the win. Milo Veloz Jr. was able to put pressure
on Willert several times, but couldn't make a pass for the lead.
Chuck Hanna finished third, with Thad Wilson fourth, and Ryan
Dolan fifth. Veloz, Kevin Blum, and Ray Cox Jr. took heat race
wins. Dolan won the Modified consi.
After failing to qualify in
the heat race tonight it was up to Michael to stay on track
and qualify through the consi. Fortunately, he did just that,
but unfortunately, it was not long lived. Michael would be out
of the feature in the first few laps when he struggled to keep
his position in about three feet of dirty in turns 3 and 4 and
lost the battle with damage to the right front and radiator.
Hello Chuck Hanna, one week
can make a difference. Congrats to Jim Willert on his win.

V-8 modifieds ran a 20-lap feature with Ryan Dolan of Lisbon,
Ia. dominating the feature. Dolan started pole and survived
the first couple of rough and tumble laps. As the race progressed,
Dolan's only serious challenge would come from Thad Wilson.
Dolan would cruise on to the win with Wilson a close second.
Tim Current would finish a distant third, as Milo Veloz Jr.
and Jim Willert rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went
to Wilson, Current, Donovan Lodge, and Doug Crampton. Modified
B-mains were won by Jeff Morris and Veloz.

A beautiful night
for racing and the show ran smoothly although there was nothing
to brag about for us in the feature. Nonetheless, things are
better than last year and we are very happy with the Mach 1
chassis and Mike's availability. It was nice to meet you Wayne...
and I'll join you the next time you are at the races.

With rain threatening in the
area 70 plus cars still packed the pits at Quad City Raceway
for the second night of points racing in 07. The night started
off with an added bonus. The #00 modified of the late Ronnie
Weedon was at the track to carry the red, white, and blue during
that national anthem.
The A-Modifieds took to the
track for their feature next. Right when the green flag waved
Kevin Blum in #1 and Milo Veloz Jr. in #43 began their fight
for first. Blum was right around the bottom and Veloz was right
next to him running the middle line around the track. The #75
of Thad Wilson was right on their bumpers and eventually got
around the Veloz. Then Blum started to pull away from the pack
as Wilson and Veloz ran side by side for second. Blum began
slicing and dicing through lapped traffic and Wilson started
pulling away from Veloz but couldnt catch the #1. Blum would
take home the win followed by Wilson and then Veloz.
1. 1 Kevin Blum 2. 75X Thad Wilson 3.
43 Milo Veloz Jr. 4. 32 Donovan Lodge 5. 25 Marty Thompson 6.

My, my, I hope everyone remembered
to use their Q-tips after tonight's races! There wasn't much
chance of moving up with track conditions tonight, but we came
out without any mishaps. During hot laps I was very excited
to see Chuck Hanna on the track; however, after a few laps he
drove to the infield and that was the last I saw of Chuck. Maybe
next week?

Wilson takes Weedon Memorial
Win by Mike McGuire
Topping a talented field of
Modified drivers, Moline's Thad Wilson took home the win in
the Weedon Memorial race at the Davenport Speedway, Friday night.
The event was completed despite the rather dreary weather conditions
and steady sprinkles throughout part of the event. The event
is named for the late Ronnie Weedon, a local racing legend,
and sponsored by J&J Camper Sales. Weedon scored over 500 feature
wins in a racing career that lasted more than fifty years. Weedon's
#00 modified led the parade laps prior to the Modified main.
After starting fourth in the Modified feature, Thad Wilson wasted
little time getting by early race leader Doug Crampton. Wilson
quickly built up a full straightaway lead over the field and
held that gap all the way to the checkers. Crampton would hang
on to the second spot with Mike Zemo Jr. third, Bob Dominacki
fourth, and Ryan Dolan fifth. Wilson, Crampton, and John Bull
took heat race wins. Chad Patch won the Modified consi.
Little Z kept the Mach 1 Chassis
up front and it was the first night in ages that turned out
positive for this clan. We parked closer to the gate tonight
to be closer to Humphrey and I must say from my perspective
it was nice to be within walking distance of the stands, but
I did miss the racing bunch on the far side of the track. Hope
to be back on Wednesday for the World of Outlaws.

Great Season Opener!!! by Brad
Hines
Things got interesting when
the A-Modifieds came onto the track. At the drop of the green
flag Jeff Morris took the lead with Donovan Lodge in chase.
Wasn't long before Lodge over took first place and started to
pull away. Unfortunately there was one wreck that looked worse
then it really was. Jason Pershy ended up rolling over and Mitch
Morris took a hard hit from Jerame Mowery. Good news, everyone
was just fine. After that was all cleaned up and the green flag
dropped again, Lodge and J.Morris pulled away from the field.
Milo Veloz Jr., Kevin Blum, Marty Thompson, and Brandon Durbin
had some of the best racing of night, trading positions in every
turn. Lodge took home the win followed by J.Morris and Blum.
1. 32 Donovan Lodge 2. 86 Jeff Morris
3. 1 Kevin Blum 4. 43 Milo Veloz Jr. 5. 25 Marty Thompson
6. 15 Brandon Durbin 7. 86X Jeremy Gustaf 8. 53 Matt Stein
9. 75 Ian Dettmer 10. 19C Mark VerVynck 11. 40 Doug Crampton

Jerry Durbin
This season welcomes back Jerry
Durbin in the A-Mods. A disappointing night for many open wheel
drivers including Little Z. Mitch Morris and Jason Pershy were
both hard hit during the feature race but walked away from the
several car pile-up. The first weekend at the track and the
cars were pretty tore up; I have to ask myself why we just don't
start the season out with an ugly car and end the year the same
way.

DAVENPORT SPEEDWAY
by Mike McGuire
Kevin Blum (Mach 1 Chassis)
took a feature win after starting on the pole in the V-8 Modifieds.
However Blum's run to victory lane was not as easy. From the
drop of the green, Blum had to defend his lead. First from Thad
Wilson, who came from sixth starting spot to second in half
a lap. Later in the race, it was Ryan Dolan storming around
the high side of the racetrack. Dolan was able to nose out in
front a couple of times but could not make the pass stick. Blum
would go on the take the win with Milo Veloz Jr. making a late
pass for second after starting 15th. Dolan finished third with
John Bull fourth and Jason Pershy fifth. Blum and Doug Crampton
took heat race wins.
Feature: 1. Kevin Blum; 2. Milo Veloz
Jr; 3. Ryan Dolan; 4. John Bull; 5. Jason Pershy; 6. Brandon
Durbin; 7. Chuck Hanna; 8. Bob Dominacki; 9. Mike Zemo Jr; 10.
Thad Wilson; 11. Tony VonDresky; 12. Dusty Kraklio; 13. Tim
Arp; 14. Jerame Mowery; 15. Chad Patch; 16. Matt Stein; 17.
Doug Crampton; 18. Keith Blum
The team met their goal of
having the car on the track for the beginning of points season;
although it still was not in its finnished form. Last minute
changes, a loan from Crampton, and the car was on the track
during a caution in the second heat. With our affiliation to
Mach 1 Chassis it seemed approriate that we would change the
cars look and go for a sleeker, hotter car, in my opinion. Michael
and Oppendike did a great job on the graphics and I applaud
them. Michael had to make adjustments after years in the D&M
but he was very happy with how the Mach 1 ran.
I'd heard a young man who I
met way back in our first year (2002) was running B-mod. How
time flies..........Hunter Wilson was just little guy racing
go-carts at Blue Grass and now he's running with the big boys.
Best of luck to Hunter and his family.

The Bears are on their way
to Super Bowl XLI!
The garage has been empty a
little too long for Papa Bear but I I do have the pleasure of
not having to go out and scrape windows during these cold days.
Not for long, as Mike has been spending the last few evenings
at Mach 1 Racing and the building has begun. Chuck and Abby
will be married on February 7th with a reception following on
March 3rd. I will be in Vegas with my friends for the reception,
so I will miss out on wishing them the very best and enjoying
some familiar faces that I have not seen over the winter. Chuck
and Abby, congratulations on your new life and I will be thinking
of you on your very special day!!

Hello Chuck Hanna! Just seeing
how much you really pay attention.
We spent a few hours with other
racing teams tonight and I enjoyed our time. Each year I become
more attached to this lifestyle and miss the time away...or
maybe it is because racing brings warm weather and sunshine!
Chuck's car looks great and he is to be congratulated on his
upcoming marriage.
We will be joining forces with
Mach One and are still discussing if there will be a change
on the outward appearance of the car too!

QCS Racing Banquet. Just had
to officially wish Kevin and Carey good luck in their future
endeavors. We enjoyed the time Kevin and Carey promoted QCS
and thought they did an excellent job. As in most cases, you
have to walk a mile in someone's shoes to know exactly how much
time and effort it really takes to make things run smoothly.
Kevin has empathy for the teams and realizes how much money
is invested on a weekly basis. Therefore, since our 2006 season
was full of disappointment we learned there were little ways
he tried to make your night a little less painful.
Good Luck Kevin and Carey!!
